I've posted some pictures of our house, but not too many. I keep thinking that I still have more to do and I want to wait until it's done to take pictures. Well, I finally realized that that may never happen, so I should show you some pictures of what I do have done...well, basically done. Is anything with a house ever REALLY done! I don't know if we'll ever be done with all our projects! Anywho, here are a few pictures of our family room and kitchen. We could use something above the couch and we already have curtains for the windows but haven't put them up yet. Any ideas what to put above the couch?
We've been wanting to do some yard work since we moved in, but we have been working on all the stuff INSIDE the house first (although that's not all done yet and I don't think I've even posted pictures of most of our house yet). Anyway, today Dan planted a tree!!! We wanted to brighten up our yard, so we got a "Pink Velour" Crape Myrtle tree. They can grow quite big or you can keep them groomed (is that the proper landscaping term?) smaller and they have bright, beautiful blossoms that last throughout the summer...I love it!!! They are soooo pretty and I really look forward to this tree beautifying our yard. One tree planted...lots more landscaping to do!
ps. and don't you just love how perfectly Brynlee matches the tree...she looks great in hot pink!
So, two really random things happened this weekend. First one was that I went to a friend's son's baptism...well, that's not the random part. The random part was when her sister, who was visiting from California, walked in the room and I immediately recognized her as one of my old BYU roommates...like ELEVEN years ago!!! That was sooo crazy! We had fun catching up with each other and who knows, maybe I'll see her again since her sister is in my ward!
The other random thing happened when we decided to bring some cookies to a new family in the neighborhood. We went over right before church, so we were all dressed in our Sunday clothes. The man that answered the door commented and said that he should be at church too. Then he asked where we went to church and we said "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" and he said that's where they go....HOW RANDOM IS THAT!!!??? I don't think Dan or I believed him at first, but then he started using some specific mormony lingo and he had us convinced. That was just so unexpected that we were in shock! So, he has a nice wife and 4 kids (ages 9-17). We're excited to get to know them better. Who knew that we would be welcoming someone to the neighborhood AND the ward...seriously, so random!!!
I've been wanting to vent and write about how crazy my kids have been lately, but today they totally redeemed themselves and have been soo good!! I guess that's what parenting is all about. We went to the county Fair on Wednesday and although it started out fun, it ended up....well, not so fun. Dan and I were both done and so were the kids...we were all a mess!! But, after a few great conversations with friends, I feel much better and ready to be an awesome mom!! I'm ready to tackle the job of being a "good" mom...you know what I mean...good mom that has fun with her kids, good mom that disciplines her kids well...you know! Being a good mom is NOT all fun and games and it's definitely not easy! But, I'm preaching to the choir...you ladies all know that! So, back to my cute kids. They have been super cute today. Carson has been sweet and asking some big questions lately. Like "how do babies get OUT of the mommies tummies?" or "How do I get to Heaven to visit Jesus?". Brynlee is talking up a storm! My favorite words to hear her say right now are "Car-SIN!", "watermlalalalalin", and "gwapes". Here's a cute video of her.
This is what Carson said when all our family left after a week of fun!! We had a FABULOUStime hanging out with my cousins and their families. My cousins Lisa and Matt (they're siblings) and their families came to visit last week. Matt flew in from Utah with his 3 kids and Lisa and her husband drove up from Georgia with their 5 kids. That's an extra 3 adults and 8 kids in the house! It was a lot of people andA LOT of fun!!! They did lots of site-seeing and museum visiting, but we were also able to squeeze in some fun family time going swimming, doing movie nights, and a BBQ. I haven't seen these cousins for YEARS and it was soo much fun catching up with them. And Carson and Brynlee LOVED all of their kids. They always had someone to play with and lots of attention. Carson was absolutely devastated when it was time to say goodbye to everyone! I also enjoyed getting to know my cousins kids...they are so sweet! I had a fun time doing girly things with the girls...like making hair bows! It was a great vacation for us...and we didn't even have to go anywhere! Thanks again for coming Matt and Lisa...you are welcome ANYTIME!!! And thanks for the very, VERY generous thank you gift! Carson got a big boy bike! He has NEVER wanted one and was totally content with his little big wheel thingie, but WE wanted him to have one. The second he showed the smallest bit of interest, we got him one...pretty pathetic I know. Next big thing we get him will be for his birthday, or Christmas, or after weeks and months of successfully completing a chore chart :) Carson is getting to like his bike more and more! He looks so darn cute in the helmet and all those pads! Goooo Carson!!
