So You Think You're Crafty!

So, I'm "auditioning" for a friendly little crafty competition. The top ten from the audition round will go on to compete with a new theme each week and the one with the lowest votes goes home. It's anonymous, so I can't tell you which one is mine, but click on the button below and check out all the projects...and don't forget to vote!  Let's see if I make it through the audition round!

Shredder

Nope, I'm not talking about the bad guy in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I'm talking about my sweet little 2 year old daughter!  For the first year or so of her life, we affectionately (or maybe not) called her "The Shredder".  We might have said it so much that even Carson started calling her that.  Why?  Because our sweet little baby could destroy ANYTHING!  She would rip things to shreds in a matter of seconds.  And if you wanted her to give something back that she had in her little shredding hands, she would give  you this little look and then go kamakazi on it.  Seriously, I'm pretty sure that if we gave her a phone book, that girl could rip the thing in half!  So, she is the shredder.  Lucky for us, she gradually got over her obsession with shredding things a while ago.  We slowly began to trust her with books again and even so much that we would slide them in between the crib and bumper at night so she would have something to read in the morning...which she loved!  Well, she has once again lost that privilege and re-earned the name of Shredder.  Look what she did:
And yes, that is a LIBRARY book!!!  So, there goes $17 to pay for that book.  And this is not the first time...we're going to start taking money out of her college fund to pay for her book shredding.  Well, there won't be anymore shredding for a while b/c no more books in bed for our sweet angel!

The End.

My Verdict

So, in the case of the bobby pins, it looks like the majority says that the bumpy side goes up.  WHO KNEW!  All these years I've been wearing them wrong...what else am I doing wrong that I don't know about.  I even made some cute little flower bobby pins and did those "upside down" too.  I guess I'm not fooling anybody that I'm girly, there's no hiding the fact that I'm really not anymore!  Happy Bobby Pin wearing!

Who Knew!

How do you wear your bobby pins?  Do you have the straight side up or the bumpy side up?  I ALWAYS thought that you were suppose to wear them with the straight side up...and that's how I wore them forever!  Don't you want the pretty straight side to show?  But, I recently learned that apparently you are suppose to wear them with the bumpy side up.  That just seems so weird to me...is that really true?  How do you wear your bobby pins,
inquiring minds want to know!

Dan turns another year older!

Dan turned another year older!  We had a fun time celebrating his birthday this year...at least I did!  We had 7 other families over for dinner on sunday.  These were Dan's 'old school' friends...friends we've had since we first moved to Maryland and before we had kids!  We had a blast catching up with everyone.  And all the kids LOVED playing together!  On monday, Dan's actual birthday, the kids and I surprised him and work and picked him up for lunch.  We went to yummy Five Guys and then took him back to work with 2 plates of goodies for his coworkers.  I know, that's totally second grade, but it was fun.  When Dan came home we had a fun FHE with games, treats, and presents for daddy.  I think he had a good birthday...and we all enjoyed it too!  Happy Birthday Dan!  Here are the top 5 reasons why you're the coolest (I had to limit it to the top 5 :)

1.) You have a contagious big smile (see picture above)
2.) You love your kiddos and think of fun games to play with chocolate cheerios.
3.) You clean bathrooms like a champ (I can't even tell you the last time I cleaned a toilet!)
4.) You always help around the house with cleaning, cooking, etc.  And always without being asked.
5.) You love me!  Thanks for being so cool!  Happy Birthday!

Lady Who?

Is it wrong if your 2 year old daughter totally recognizes and loves Lady GaGa??  Not to mention her older brother and parents loving the crazy singer too?  Tonight while driving in the car the song Poker Face came on the radio.  Before the singing even began Brynlee started yelling "Lady GaGa, Lady GaGa"!  Dan and I looked at each other in disbelief.  We had NEVER heard her say that before and she was right on...even before the singing began!  I don't know if I should be proud or embarrassed...I'm going with proud.
That's my girl!
